I have a theory that when someone says, “I’m not a racist, but…”, the words that follow are pure racism about 99.564% of the time. If you are forced to deny the racist appearance of your words, you probably just ought not say them. The same principle is true in other contexts. In my Baptist blogging battles, the words “I’m not anti-Calvinist” are followed by anti-Calvinist words nearly 100% of the time. If you have to tell someone your words are not hateful, they likely are.
Hold on to that thought, while I make a few admissions.
